The LGBTQ+ Secret

There’s a lot of negative talk out there these days, including misinformation from those who try to divide us based on our differences. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

During many of my speaking gigs – keynotes and corporate training – I get asked the question, so how does all this LGBTQ+ inclusion make a difference in my life? 

Here’s the secret that 2SLGBTQ+ people have known since we first came out: 
When we have the courage to be ourselves in one aspect of our lives, we gain the strength to be bolder in other aspects of our lives! This is why 2SLGBTQ+ folks are some of the most successful people you know! We aren’t afraid to make better, braver or more creative choices instead of always falling back on the ‘right’ choice.  

Try it! By letting go of outdated social norms that no longer serve you, you begin to see the world as opportunity instead of how it always has been.

What this means for you – whether you are 2SLGBTQ+, straight or cisgender – is that your work creating a community of allies matters.  By creating a community that is safe, welcoming and most importantly, empowering for 2SLGBTQ+ people, you are creating a world where EVERYONE is free to be themselves regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. 

When we are all free to be ourselves, we can focus on making the world better instead of replicating the same ol’, same old.
